These are by far our favourite vegetarian burger ever! The flavour is great and the texture is perfect, it is very meat like. The secret is in keeping the ingredients as dry as possible and not over-mashing the beans.
We love to serve this with a guacamole or sliced avocado, with sliced red onion in summer or caramelized onions for cooler days. Our absolute must have sauce is our Southern American inspired comeback sauce, it just perfects the burger, and its the best dipping sauce for chips if you are having those on the side!
These freeze beautifully. I usually make a double batch and freeze between greaseproof paper layers. This allows me to take 2 out at a time for a quick meal.
