We are two city folk who decided to pack up our jobs and live a simpler, slower life with a grand plan of living off our land. Everything we learned about conventional farming flew in the face of what we knew to be right, and so with time we found our own way. On our farm our animals range free, we raise them ourselves – with care and respect and without hormones, steroids and antibiotics – the way nature intended. Our gardens are organic because that just makes sense to us, chemicals and synthetic fertilisers may grow bigger veg, but at what price to our earth and our bodies? We use nature’s own tools to manage pests and boost growth – it’s slower, it involves more work, and sometimes our produce is not picture perfect, but it’s just the way it’s meant to be.
We are all about knowing where your food comes from. We hold our farmers and producers accountable, making sure they have the same ethics as ours. Our food is whole food, it contains real food and nothing else. It does not contain preservatives or colourants. There are no chemical thickeners, emulsifiers, stabilisers, acidity regulators or anti-caking agents in our products. We do not use chemical flavour enhancers or sweeteners. We thicken with flour, we preserve with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, we sweeten with honey or sugar. Our food spoils!! Yes, our sauces may separate and need a shake, our bright green marinade may dull a little, and some products only last a few weeks in the fridge, just like real food should.
We love sharing our great food with others, and get such a kick out of hearing how our clients appreciate our quality. Buying directly from us means fresher, better value for money food. Delivery to your door is convenient and it’s free – we deliver to the greater Pietermaritzburg, Durban and North Durban areas every week.
